About Me

Bio

I live in a rural area of Pennsylvania, between Philadelphia and Lancaster. Our backyard bumps up against a beautiful Amish farm. The view outside my kitchen window (above) sometimes includes cows or horses grazing peacefully.

I have a wonderful husband, three grown children, each with a wonderful spouse, and one grandchild. No pets at the moment. I’m lucky to have a large extended family and love spending time with them.

I work in a busy public library and love it. People of all kinds come in for books, storytimes, computers, restrooms after playing in the park, and sometimes just to say hello.
Childhood

My childhood was a happy one. I grew up in New Jersey near the shore. One of ten children, I usually had a baby nearby to coo with and siblings to play with. My parents read nursery rhymes and poems to me, and of course, we visited the library often.

Sometimes I made up poems in my head while playing outside, matching the words to the rhythm of the swing.

I remember reading on our screened-in porch, a warm breeze blowing, my dad reading nearby. A yearning to write a book like the one I was reading flashed through me. But I didn’t consider writing for publication until later, when I started my own family.

I’ve earned a B.A. from Villanova University and an M.S.W. from Temple University. I’ve had jobs in libraries and offices, sometimes as a paralegal or proofreader. I’m a member of SCBWI, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
